The Vietnam War Veteran (1964-1973)

During the Vietnam Era, 9,087,000 military personnel served worldwide on active duty. 3,403,100 served in the Southeast Asia Theater. Of those, 2,594,000 served within the borders of South Vietnam. Another 50,000 personnel served in Vietnam between 1960 and 1964.

Other Vietnam Veteran Facts:

Women made up 7,484 of the troops. 83.5% were nurses.
Peak troop strength in Vietnam was 543,482 on April 30, 1969.
Draftees accounted for 648,500 of the total troops serving in Vietnam.
97% Of Vietnam Era Veterans were honorably discharged.
